The UFC light heavyweight champion has expressed his desire to be a simultaneous two-division champion by taking down middleweight titleholder Dricus Du Plessis. In a Facebook post accessed by GlobeSpaceNews.com on ESPN MMA page, it indicated, “Alex Pereira says he wants to move back down to middleweight to fight for the title against Dricus Du Plessis if he successfully defends his light heavyweight belt next month at #UFC307

MMA Fighting.com reported that Alex “Poatan” Pereira won the 185 pound title in November 2022 after beating Israel “the Last Style bender” Adesanya. In what would be an upset in the rematch, Poatan lost in a rematch to Israel Adesanya before moving up the division and making his way to the 205-pound gold.
Alex Pereira is expected to defend his throne next against Khalil Rountree, but he affirms his intentions to cut an extra 20 pounds again after his UFC 307 clash on October 5.

The South African MMA fighter Du Plessis defended his title after submitting Adesanya in August at UFC 305, while Pereira is slated to defend his title against Khalil Rountree.
