Kimberly Scott better known as Kim Scott is the ex-wife of Marshall Mathers, aka Eminem. The duo are blessed with a daughter Hailie Jade Scott and despite finally divorcing in 2007, Hailie has spoken highly of both of her parents and their impact on her life. Eminem known for his rhythmic raps, drew inspiration from his romance with Kimberly Ann Scott for several of his notable songs with some of them not painting her in the best light including “Kim,” “’97 Bonnie & Clyde” and “Love The Way You Lie” featuring Rihanna.

Kim Scott was born Kimberly Ann Scott and her twin sister Dawn Scott to Kathleen Doherty in Warren Michigan, on Jan 9, 1975. Kim Scott Met Eminem in 1988 at a house party and began an on-again, off-again relationship relationship that would go on for nearly two decades. They were married twice, in 1999 and in 2006, before finally divorcing in 2017. On December 25 1995 they welcomed a daughter, Hailie Jade Scott who has been featured in Eminem’s lyrics in songs like “When I’m Gone, and Mockingbird”
According to SCMP.com as per the rapper’s 2004 interview with rolling stone, Eminem stated, “I was at a friend’s house, and his sister was friends with her, but she hadn’t seen Kim in a while ’cause she was in the youth home,” he said in the interview. He continued, “I said to my friend’s sister, ‘Yo, who was that? She’s kinda hot.’ And the saga began. Now there’s the constant struggle of ‘will I ever meet somebody else that’s gonna be real with me, as real as I can say she’s been with me?’”
Scott ended up moving in with Eminem and his mother, Debbie Nelson. “Marshall [referring to her son Marshall Mathers, aka Eminem] arrived home from school with a tall, sulky blonde girl,” Nelson shared in her memoir, My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem. “He introduced her as Kim Scott and said she needed a place to stay. I was happy to help out.”

According to the People.Com Eminem and Scott wed on June 14, 1999, before he departed on his first tour. However, things were rocky for the couple from the start of their marriage. In 2007 during an episode of Dr. Keith Ablow’s talk show, Scott said she married Eminem to keep him, “faithful and grounded” when he went on tour, but it didn’t work out. By 2001, the pair called it quits. However, they remarried on Jan. 14, 2006, in a “small, private ceremony” in Michigan, according to the rapper’s rep, Dennis Dennehy. “Family and close friends were in attendance,” he told PEOPLE.
Shortly after, though, Eminem filed for divorce in April 2006, and it was finalized in an out-of-court settlement in December of that same year.
“There was a lot of sadness about why this didn’t work out. They’ve been together for 17 years,” her attorney Michael J. Smith told PEOPLE. “They’re life-long friends, lovers, have been husband and wife, they’re raising children together … It’s not the end and it’s not over between them.”
Smith continued, “Kim is doing great. She is a very articulate, very smart woman. She is going back to college to study design. She just wants to be a mom and go back to college. That’s what she wants to do right now.”

Kim Scott Today
Scott has kept a low profile in recent years, only occasionally making headlines when she got spotted in public. She has opened about her battles with depression and drug addiction in the years following her split from Eminem.

In 2021, TMZ reported that she had relapsed and was hospitalised for self-harming. According to SCMP.com although they are no longer romantically involved, Scott and Eminem have reportedly maintained an amicable relationship as co-parents. “We’re really close friends, we’re just trying to raise our kids together and make it as normal for them as possible,” Scott explained in an appearance on the radio show Mojo in the Morning in 2016.
