Dean McDermott is a Canadian actor best known as a reality television personality with his wife, actress Tori Spelling, and as the host of the cooking competition Chopped Canada. He played the role of Constable Renfield Turnbull on the TV series Due South.
Dean McDermott Early Life and Age
Dean McDermott was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to David and Doreen McDermott. He has three sisters, Dale, Dawn, and Dana. He graduated from North Albion Collegiate Institute in Rexdale, Ontario. He was born November 16 1966 making him 56 years old.
Dean McDermott Career
Dean McDermott has appeared in several films such as Open Range, Irvine Welsh’s Ecstasy, and Against the Ropes. He has also appeared in several TV movies including Always and Forever, Santa Baby 2: Christmas maybe, and a Christmas Visitor. A professionally trained chef, and in 2013 he participated as a member of “Team Guy” on the second season of Food Network’s Rachel vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-off and became the winner. In January 2014, McDermott began hosting Chopped Canada on Food Network Canada. He hosted this show for two seasons where he later left the show in 2015.
McDermott has also had a variety of guest and recurring roles on television series such as Earth: Final Conflict, Tracker, 1-800-Missing, NCIS, and CSI: Crime investigation. In 2016 he took a starring role portraying Lain Vaughn on Slasher. He released a cookbook called the Gourmet Dad where he wanted to make intimidating plates more attractive to kids.
Dean McDermott Marriage
McDermott’s first wife is actress Mary Jo Eustace. Together they have one Child son Jack Montgomery born October 10, 1998. In July 2005 when filming the lifetime TV movie Mind Over Murder in Ottawa, McDermott met actress Tori Spelling, who was then married to writer-actor Charlie Shanian. The two commenced an affair the night they met and upon his subsequent divorce from Eustace, McDermott was granted joint custody of their son Jack as such opting not to proceed with the adoption of a baby girl, Lola born July 7, 2004 as per the initial agreement with Eustace prior to their separation. However, as per Instagram posts, Lola Eustace refers to Tori Spellings as her “step daughter” and Lola refers to Dean McDermott as her “dad”.
McDermott married Tori Spelling on May 7, 2006, in Fiji. Spelling and McDermott renewed their vows on May 8, 2010, in Beverly Hills. Spelling and McDermott have five children: three sons, Liam Aaron (born March 13, 2007), Finn Davey (born August 30, 2012) and Beau Dean (born March 2, 2017) and two daughters, Stella Doreen (born June 9, 2008) and Hattie Margaret (born October 10, 2011).
McDermott became and American citizen at a ceremony in Los Angeles on August 21, 2010.
On July 1, 2010, McDermott was involved in a dirt bike accident, his second motorcycle accident of the year. He was hospitalized in Los Angeles with a punctured and collapsed lung, and doctors said they expected him to make a full recovery. McDermott was released from the hospital on July 6, 2010.
Dean McDermott Divorce from Tori Spelling
In June 17, 2023 Dean McDermott announces split from Tori Spelling. In a now deleted Instagram post, Dean McDermott stated.
"It’s with great sadness and a very very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 amazing children, that @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways and start a new journey of our own," he wrote alongside a photograph of himself and Spelling, as well as an image of the now-former couple with their kids.
McDermott continued: “We will continue to work together as loving parents and guide and love our children through this difficult time.”
So far, Tori has been mum about the split … but, to Dean’s point about co-parenting, the now estranged couple was photographed celebrating their daughter Stella Doreen’s 15th birthday at the Beverly Hilton.
Reports indicate that Dean admitted to cheating on Tori, explaining that he was “out of control” and “sex was an escape.” The couple even talked openly about Dean’s infidelity on their own reality show, “True Tori.”
