The rapper is reportedly said to be connected to a lawsuit filed against him for allegedly collecting luxury items which he never paid for.
On Thursday morning, the Broward Sheriff’s Office raided Sean Kingston Florida mansion. The rapper is apparently accused of not paying for a $150,000 entertainment system and other luxurious items in a lawsuit filed back in February.
The police also arrested his 61-year old mother Janice Turner over several fraud and theft charges during the raid.
The accusing company attorney, Dennis card, who was present during the raid said this to NBC,
“He likes having bling, he likes showing off, he’s a showman, my client has a $150,000 television sound system that’s in there, there’s also about $1m worth of watches that are in there, there’s a $80,000 custom bed that was ordered. This is an organized systematic fraud.”
“He’s 100 percent a scammer, he’s on felony probation right now for trafficking in stolen property, he’s got judgements against him for procuring more than $1m in watches without paying for them. This is just an ongoing pattern for Sean.” He added
The rapper who had earlier posted in his Instagram stories that he was currently in Los Angeles for work and later heading to Las Vegas for his next show, has not commented on the raid or the ongoing investigation.
Sean Kingston is known for his major hits “Beautiful Girls,” “Me love,” and “Take You There”. He has also previously collaborated with stars like Justin Bieber and Soulja Boy.
As for his 61year old Mother, Janice Turner, previous federal court records have disclosed that she pled guilty in January 2006 for four counts of filing false loan applications and one count of bank fraud involving $132,000 in stolen funds which she was ordered to repay. Turner was sentenced to sixteen months in prison followed by five years of supervised release.
