Jen Hatmaker, a New York Times bestselling author and influential podcaster, has announced her upcoming memoir, Awake, set to release on September 23, 2025. This deeply personal work delves into her transformative journey, including the end of her 26-year marriage, her experiences with social media, and her profound midlife rebirth.

The memoir opens with a pivotal moment in July 2020, when Hatmaker discovered her husband’s infidelity. In the aftermath, she faced numerous personal challenges, including raising five children alone, grappling with financial ignorance, and confronting mental health struggles. Awake spans four decades, capturing various phases of her life—from childhood to parenthood—while addressing broader themes like marriage, religion, and cultural shifts.
“In the months that followed, she went from being a shiny, funny, popular leader, to a divorced wreck on antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds parenting five kids alone with no clue about her own bank accounts,” reads the book’s official synopsis. “Having led millions of women for over a decade — urging them to embrace authenticity, find radical agency and create healthy relationships — this seemed nothing less than total failure.”
Hatmaker, who has authored 14 previous books and hosts the podcast For the Love, aims to question and dismantle the myths and half-truths that have shaped her life. She describes Awake as “a deeply personal and provocative memoir—a coming-of-middle-age story about losing what you thought defined you and discovering who you really are.”
“Drawing on all her resources — from without and from within — Jen dares to question the systems beneath the whole house of cards, and to reckon with the myths, half-truths and lies that brought her to this point,” the synopsis adds.
The memoir is available for preorder and will officially hit the shelves on September 23, 2025. Preordering offers exclusive bonuses, including printable quote art from the book.
Hatmaker is also the author of 14 previous books, four of which are New York Times bestsellers. She hosts the podcast For the Love, a weekly conversation show that hosts a broad range of guests.
