At least 18 people have been reported murdered and at least 13 wounded after a gunman opened fire at a bowling alley and a bar in Lewiston, state of Maine in the United States, on October 25, 2023. The manhunt for the suspect is still ongoing as an arrest warrant is issued.
As reported by state police Col. William Ross in a news conference on October 26, 2023, police received a 911 call about the bowling alley shooting at about 6:56 p.m. Just over 10 minutes later, at about 7:08 p.m., police received multiple calls about the other shooting. Police from Lewiston and the surrounding area responded to the shootings. He also stated that Eight of the victims had been identified, and ten others were being identified.
40-year-old Robert Card was named as the main suspect in the shooting by Lewiston police. They cautioned the pub he should be considered “armed and dangerous”. An arrest Warrant has been issued for his arrest and Residents to shelter in place.
“Please stay inside your homes while more than 100 investigators, both local and federal, work to locate Robert Card,” they said.

Robert Card is said to be from Bowdoin, Maine, a town near Lewiston. He is described as being 5’11” tall and weighing 230 pounds.
The Lewiston Police Department released images on social media that showed the man holding a semiautomatic rifle at one of the shooting scenes, wearing a brown shirt, dark pants, and light shoes. Numerous pictures of the suspect have been posted on social media platforms, and the authorities urged anyone who recognizes him to contact law enforcement.Who
According to earlier reports by Maine law enforcement, the suspect was enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve and was believed to be stationed out of Saco, Maine. In An earlier statement, it had been alleged that the suspect was a trained firearms instructor, but a later updated bulletin said there was no indication that he was an instructor.
The bulleting also mentioned that Robert Card had recently reported mental health issues, including hearing voices. He had also threatened to shoot up the National Guard base in Saco, and he was said to have been committed to a mental health facility for two weeks this summer.
The brand of the semiautomatic weapon the suspect used was unknown, but Authorities described it as an assault rifle with an extended magazine and scope.
A white Subaru Outback registered to the suspect was also found abandoned at the Pejepscot Boat Launch in Lisbon, Maine. Public records show he owns a small power boat. A US Coast Guard official said they are “looking for any suspicious vessel right now” as they search from the air and on the water for Card.
President Joe Biden has been informed on the shootings and has also spoken on the phone individually to Maine Governor Janet Mills, Senators Angus King and Susan Collins, and Congressman Jared Golden about the attack, offering full federal support in the wake of the attack, the White House said.
