Sarah Ferguson has been quietly living in a chalet in the Austrian Alps during the months she has stayed away from public life. While many rumors suggested she had been traveling or staying with friends in different countries, reports now confirm that she remained in the same peaceful mountain location the entire time.
The Duchess of York, now 66, was last publicly seen in December 2025 at a private family event the christening of her granddaughter, the second child of Princess Beatrice. Even then, she kept a low profile and was not photographed. Before that, her last official appearance was in September 2025.
During her time away, there were many guesses about her whereabouts. Some believed she had visited places like Ireland or Switzerland, while others thought she was staying with friends, including Priscilla Presley. However, it turns out she chose to remain in one quiet alpine retreat instead.
Photos recently shared by The Sun showed Ferguson outside the chalet, dressed casually and going about her day. It was the first time she had been seen in months.
Her decision to stay out of the spotlight comes at a time when her former husband, Prince Andrew, has been facing serious public scrutiny. Despite their divorce in 1996, the two have remained close and continue to appear at family events together.
After losing her Duchess of York title following changes within the royal family led by King Charles III, Ferguson’s living situation also shifted. She and Andrew left their long-time home, and she is now said to be considering new places to settle, possibly in Windsor or abroad.
For now, the calm and privacy of the Austrian Alps seem to offer her exactly what she needs—a quiet space away from public attention while she plans her next chapter.
