Arthur Jones, brother to UFC GOAT Jon Jones is dead after his defibrillator went off according to 911 dispatches

Arthur Jones Date of Birth 

Arthur Jones was born in Rochester, New York, on June 3, 1986 to Arthur and Camille Jones. He is the older brother of UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight Champion Jon Jones

Arthur Jones Education 

Arthur is Syracuse, Alma mater where he studied from 2005 to 2009 where he earned his degree in communication and rhetoric studies. After moving to Endicott, Jones, attended Union-Endicott High School where he was a two time NY State Champ in Wrestling 

Arthur Jones Career

Jones Career commenced in 2005 when he was a freshman at Syracuse University. In the 2010 NFL draft, Jones was considered as one of the top senior defensive tackles where he was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round (157th Overall). He was signed to a three year deal on July 21, 2010, and during his rookie season, Jones played 2 games without recording a single stat. On March 11, 204, Jones signed a 5 year contract with Indianapolis Colts worth more than $30 million. During his first season with the Colts in 2014, Jones played 9 games with 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble on 34 tackles. On march 24, 2017, Jones was released by the colts. 

On November 1, 2017, Jones signed with the Washington Redskins. He was later placed on injured reserve on November 11, 2017 with a dislocated shoulder. Arthur Jones retired from professional football after the 2017 season ended where he announced his retirement via Instagram.

According to Syracuse athletic director John Wildhack, Jones was a tremendous player and he even better person. He said, "We were fortunate that Arthur continued to support our football program after his playing career. He impacted many of our students-athletes, always with a smile and uplifting message. After his demise, Syracuse University posted a message of condolences to Jones family on their official X.com account

 

 

Arthur Jones Family

Arthur Jones was the older brother of former UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones and former Syracuse and NFL defensive end Chandler Jones, a four time Pro Bowler who won a super Bowl in New England. As per reports, the Jones Brothers also had an older sister, Carmen who sadly passed away in 2000 due to a brain tumur. Arthur was in 8th Grade at the time. Their mother, Camille also passed in 2017 due to health complications arising from Diabetes.

While he Arthur Jones life was very private, his sudden passing has put a spot light on his personal life and whether he was married or not. Several reports claim that Arthur was married to Sunny Zupanic at the time of his passing. They had two children together Arthur Jones IV, and Skyler. Their son and daughter are 15 and 11 years old, respectively. 

 

 

 Due to Arthur's love for animals they also had several pet dogs.

Arthur Jones Death at 39

Arthur Jones died on October 3, 2025 at his home in Pompey, New York at the age of 39. According to 911 dispatches, the defibrillator in Jones' home was activated, prompting an automatic fire and ambulance response. While the actual cause of his death is yet to be revealed, the NFL player was diagnosed with heart conditions and had a pacemaker and a defibrillator implanted. In an official statement Syracuse statement released on their official Facebook page, many people eulogized Arthur.

 

 

 

After winning his light heavy weight title Alex Pereira asked the crowd for moment of silence for Jon's brother Arthur Jones.
